SIP has arranged a policy to address the immediate medical costs associated with an accidental injury while working as a volunteer for a Nova Scotia Regional Centre for Education, Conseil scolaire acadien provincial, or the Nova Scotia Community College. It does not address long-term disability. In consultation with their own insurance broker, the volunteer should discuss their personal needs for medical, accident, sickness, short and long-term disability, workers’ compensation, life insurance, etc.
All school and NSCC campus volunteers who are registered volunteers (police checks and child abuse registry checks must have been done and be held at the school) on file and approved by the school principal.
